Custom EMI Filters

Applications

  1. Determine whether system 1, looking into the filter is of high or low impedance at the frequency of interest. Choose the filter with the opposite (inverse) impedance: i.e., if the system is high impedance, the filter should be low impedance; if the system is low impedance, the filter should be high impedance.
  2. Do the same for the opposite side of the filter (System 2).

  • Power lines should be considered low impedance.
  • When performing EMC Testing such as in MIL-STD-461, a 10µƒ capacitor is specified in the line. (a low impedance) Therefore, a filter of high impedance should be used, such as in 'L' (with the inductor toward the 10µƒ capacitor), or at 'T'.

Insertion loss data is normally provided in a 50 OHM System. TSE has the computer capability to design your real impedances and convert to a 50 OHM System for your QA Testing.

  • Manufactured to general requirements of MIL-PRF-15733 MIL-PRF-15733
  • Hermetically sealed MIL-STD-461
  • Similar to TSE filters qualified for MIL applications HERMETIC
  • Similar to TSE filters used for MIL-STD-461

Voltage Ratings: 50VDC & 115 VAC, 400Hz (Higher ratings available).
Current Ratings: 2.5 to 15 amps (Higher ratings available).
Temperature Range: -55°C to +125°C.
Voltage Drop: 1% of rating.

Insertion Loss: MIL-STD-220 and real ZS, ZL.
Insulation Resistance: 1000 Megohms Min.
'L' Section Filers (All others available).

Tested to MIL-PRF-15733 and MIL-STD-202
MIL qualified connectors. Others available such as MIL-C-38999
Solder lug terminals. Threaded post and others available.
Inserts are blind, internal threads, welded for maximum strength.

Customer modifications can be quickly incorporated.

Case Configuration

MIL-PRF-15733, MIL-STD-461, HERMETIC

Case Material is steel per QQ-S-763. The finish is tin plate per MIL-T-10727 & fused.

Special Notes

NOTE 1:Terminal is connected for 10 & 15 amp rating.

NOTE 2:Transient voltage suppressors available by adding “1” to part number. (Example: 3FS4172-21.)

NOTE 3:For AC Filters, neutral current rating is 25% of phase.
